Louis DeMondo Civic Association Supports the 2021 Police Unity Tour

The Louis DeMondo Civic Association is encouraging Kenilworth residents to show their support for fallen police officers by donating to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund during National Police Week, which occurs during the week of May 9 to May 15. Residents can donate by visiting http://bit.ly/NLEOMF2021.

As an added incentive, the organization is giving away free “Kenilworth Supports Our Police” flags when residents share a photo of their donation receipt on Facebook with the hashtag #KenilworthSupportsOurPolice and tagging the @LouisDemondoCivic. Residents are also encouraged to switch their porch lights with blue bulbs to honor our fallen officers during National Police Week.

“As a 17-year veteran of the Elizabeth Police Department, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is a cause that is near and dear to my heart,” said Louis DeMondo, President of the Louis DeMondo Civic Association. “I’m proud to have participated in the annual Police Unity Tour bike ride in past years to support this important cause.”

The Police Unity Tour is a New Jersey-based organization aimed at raising awareness of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. For the past 25 years, the group has organized an annual 4-day bicycle ride from New York City to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., during National Police Week. But they have postponed the event this year due to the ongoing pandemic.

“Just because we cannot make the bike ride this May, we can still honor those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect our communities,” DeMondo said. “Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and so I am proud to help recognize those officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.”
